How to Visit Ilulissat

Ilulissat does not have an international airport. Flights from Iceland and Denmark arrive in Greenland at Kangerlussuaq. From there, you can take a domestic flight to Ilulissat. Once at the airport, you can arrange a transfer to the city center through your hotel. Another option is to take a taxi, but this can be quite expensive (over 100 DKK). There is no regular bus service between the city center and the airport. The local bus follows a sort of "call-a-ride" system without a fixed route or stops. You can also walk from the airport to Ilulissat. It’s about a 2.5 km walk to Hotel Arctic or Hotel SØMA iand about 5 km to Hotel Icefiord or Hotel Hvide Falk in the city center. The roads are good and paved, so you can easily travel with a hard-shell suitcase with wheels!
